What NHTSA investigated
Odi received a vehicle owner questionnaire (voq) alleging a hyosung GV650 leaked fuel from a fuel tank seam.after a hyosung dealer replaced the tank, fuel again leaked from the motorcycle and it began to stall.subsequently, hyosung advised the customer that the problem could have been avoided if the dealer had followed the instructions in its april 2007 tsb.that tsb acknowledged the subject vehicles fuel tank was not venting properly due to an improperly fabricated gas cap gasket.without proper venting, the bikes would stall or the fuel tank would collapse and leak or both.on february 12, 2008, after discussing the issue with odi staff, hyosung agreed to conduct a safety recall to modify the gas cap gasket.with that recall, this pe is closed.
