You may read, search and link to anything here, for any purpose, without asking. There is no account to create and no licence to accept.
Automated access is allowed within the limits set out in robots.txt, and llms.txt is published specifically so that language models can index this site accurately.
The data
The recall data originates with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is a US government work, in the public domain. We claim no ownership of it and impose no conditions on reusing it.
The wording written for this site — the summaries, the glossary, the explanatory pages — is ours, and we are glad for it to be quoted with attribution and a link to the page it came from.
What is not promised
The site is provided as it is. We rebuild from NHTSA’s files daily and check the totals each time, but we do not warrant that every record is complete, current or free of error, and a recall issued today may not appear until the next rebuild.
Nothing here is a substitute for checking your own vehicle. Only the manufacturer knows whether a specific vehicle has an open recall or has already been repaired. Use nhtsa.gov/recalls for that, and see the disclaimer.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on this site, from errors or omissions in the data we republish, or from the site being unavailable.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
