What the defect is
Certain diesel class a motor homes fail to comply with the requirements of part 567, "certification." the manufacturers' tow hitch receiver information label was printed with the incorrect weight carrying capacity value and the incorrect tongue weight value.
What could happen
The weight label on the hitch receiver provides the maximum trailer weight rating and the maximum tongue weight rating. It is important that these ratings not be exceeded. Failure to comply could result in damage to the motor home frame, body, or hitch receiver and could cause unstable driving and handling characteristrics which may result in a vehicle crash.
What gets fixed
FLEETWOOD WILL MAIL OWNERS THE CORRECT TOW HITCH RECEIVER WEIGHT INFORMATION LABEL. IF OWNERS DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE INSTALLING THE LABEL, DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE LABEL FOR THEM. THE RECALL BEGAN AUGUST 4, 2005.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 27 July 2005.
