What the defect is
Certain crg front brake levers, model RB-511 designed for use on 2004-2006 yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycles, and 2005-2006 yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycles. Model RB-512 is designed for use on 2003-2006 ducati 749 and 999 motorcycles, and on 2004-2006 aprilia mille r motorcycles. Due to a misalignment of the pivot bore, the brake lever could become seized in the brake engaged position, thereby preventing the front brake from disengaging.
What could happen
A non-release condition could cause drag on the front brake system, which could possibly result in a vehicle crash.
What gets fixed
CRG WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE ROCKER FOR THE FRONT LEVER FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 2006.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 2 May 2006.
