What the defect is
Certain graham white air dryer and air dryer replacement electronic control modules, models QBA15 and EC15, manufactured between july 11 and december 20, 2006, installed as original equipment for transit and commercial buses and sold as replacement equipment. The electronic control module circuit can fail which will cause the air dryer to stop functioning leading to passing of wet air into the air receiver tank downstream of the air dryer. If the dryer continues to malfunction over an extended period of time, excessive amounts of water can accumulate and, in freezing tempatures, may affect the preformance of the air brakes.
What could happen
Water in the vehicle's air system can affect brake performance and could result in a crash.
What gets fixed
THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS WILL NOTIFY THEIR OWNERS AND REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES OF THE AFFECTED AIR DRYERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MARCH 2007.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 15 February 2007.
