What the defect is
Ford is recalling certain model year 2010 transit connect vehicles manufactured from december 5, 2008 through may 31, 2010 for failing to meet the minimum requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 201, "occupant protection in interior impact." during vehicle testing the vehicle exceeded head injury criteria requirements set by the standard. The headliner retention pushpin located on the headliner above the b-pillar trim on both the left and right side of the vehicles needs to be replaced.

In the event of a vehicle crash, an occupant could be at an increased risk of injury.
What gets fixed
FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 19, 2010.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 7 July 2010.
