What the defect is
Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Winnebago Sightseer and Itasca Sunova motorhomes with a D35G floorplan, manufactured March 19, 2015, to July 15, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the wiring harness behind the panel board may be pinched or damaged when the left rear slideout room is retracted due to insufficient clearance.
What could happen
A damaged or pinched wiring harness increases the risk of a fire.
What gets fixed
Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the wiring harness for damage, repairing it as necessary. Additionally, the harness attachment point will be relocated to provide the harness extra clearance. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on November 5, 2015.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 21 September 2015.
