What the defect is
Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Landmark 365 fifth wheel recreational trailers manufactured September 30, 2015, to October 24, 2016 and equipped with disc brakes. The spare steel wheel on the affected vehicles may not properly fit on the axle hub, resulting in the wheel rubbing on the brake line, causing it to wear.
What could happen
The brake line may be worn through causing a loss of braking or vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
What gets fixed
Heartland will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steel spare wheel with an aluminum wheel, free of charge. The recall began on January 11, 2017.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 7 December 2016.
