What the defect is
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Coachmen RV Encounter recreational vehicles, and 2014-2018 Coachmen RV Mirada and Mirada Select recreational vehicles equipped with the residential refrigerator option instead of the standard refrigerator. The unused, but powered, wiring for the standard refrigerator was left with exposed wire ends.
What could happen
If the energized positive wire and negative wire make contact, the wires may sort circuit and possibly melt, increasing the risk of a fire.
What gets fixed
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the positive and negative wires from the battery, free of charge. The recall began on August 3, 2017.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 23 June 2017.
