What the defect is
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2017 IC CE transit buses equipped with Bendix ADB 22X brake calipers. The driver side rear brakes may drag.
What could happen
A dragging brake may cause damage to the brake components, which may activate the ABS warning light. The warning light may cause the driver to immediately stop the vehicle and transfer occupants. Additionally, the high temperatures at the wheel end can increase the risk of a fire. Either condition increases the risk of injury.
What gets fixed
Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the left rear caliper with a redesigned adjuster mechanism, free of charge. The recall began July 12, 2019.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 15 May 2019.
