- Samsung Sdi High Voltage Battery Pack
What the defect is
Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. (Samsung SDI) is recalling certain High Voltage Battery Packs, part numbers LX68-10C790-G-PIA3AB, LX68-10C790-G-PIA3AD, 05193168AG, 05193168AH, LX68-10C790-G-PIA3AC, 05193168AE, and 05193168AF. The high voltage battery may fail, resulting in a sudden loss of drive power.
What could happen
A sudden loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
What gets fixed
Samusung SDI will notify and work with the affected vehicle manufacturers to replace the HV battery pack, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 28 January 2022.
