What the defect is
Corp. Micro Bird Inc. (Micro Bird) is recalling certain 2017-2018 G5 school buses equipped with an elevated floor and electrically adjustable driver's seat. An incorrect bracket may have been installed on the driver's seat and may interfere with the seat belt pretensioner.
What could happen
An impaired seat belt pretensioner may not tighten the seat belt as intended, increasing the risks of injury during a crash.
What gets fixed
Micro Bird Corp will provide instructions for inspecting the driver's seat. If the incorrect bracket is found, dealers will replace the bracket, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 22, 2022.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 6 June 2022.
