What the defect is
Eldorado National-California, Inc (Eldorado National-California) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Axess and EZR vehicles. The transmission yoke may separate, resulting in driveshaft separation and a sudden loss of drive power.
What could happen
A sudden loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a disabled bus may require an evacuation procedure in an uncontrolled traffic situation, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.
What gets fixed
Eldorado National-California will work with the equipment manufacturer, Allison Transmission Inc., to inspect, and if necessary, tighten loose transmission yoke bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 08, 2024.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 4 December 2023.
