What the defect is
Midwest Fire Equipment & Repair Company (Midwest Fire) is recalling certain 2021-2025 All-Poly Series fire trucks. The hose reel mounting plate may crack and fail, which can cause the hose reel to detach from the vehicle.
What could happen
A hose reel that detaches can become a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash. In addition, the mounting plate can fail suddenly during hose operation, increasing the risk of injury.
What gets fixed
Midwest Fire will reinforce the hose reel mounting plate, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 26, 2025.
Parts involved
- Bottom, Rear Hose Reel, Rev A002-5955Mounting plate fabricated from 3/16-inch thick aluminum sheet (alloy 5052-H32). The plate is formed with radius bends to support and secure the rear hose reel assembly on the fire truck.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 28 August 2025.
