What the defect is
The secondary seat can separate from the secondary lever of the model eb or model lb converters. This is caused by a material or a manufacturing defect of the rubber seat.
What could happen
The converter contains a secondary lever, with a seatwhich regulates the flow of LPG gas to the mixer. The seat separates from thelever, which allows full tank pressure to be applied to the mixer. This causesthe gas hose to blow off the mixer. If this occurs, fuel would flow into the engine compartment where it could be ignited by a hot engine or other source ofignition.
What gets fixed
REPLACE THE SECONDARY LEVER IN MODEL EB AND LB CONVERTERS.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 20 September 1991.
