What the defect is
Newell is recall certain model year 2010-2011 motor coaches manufactured from march 12, 2009 through march 29, 2010. The entry door may suddenly open due to a wiring short.
What could happen
If this occurred during travel it could cause driver distraction, and/or allowing someone who is not seated to fall out of the coach causing injury or death.
What gets fixed
DEALERS WILL ADD A SAFETY INTERLOCK SYSTEM THAT REMOVES ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE DOOR WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE IS RELEASED. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 19, 2010.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 7 May 2010.
