What the defect is
Crane carrier is recalling three model year 2009 LET2 hev, cab and chassis utility vehicles manufactured from april 24, 2009, through september 15, 2009, and equipped with elfa traction drive motors. The electric motors speed sensor signal may be misinterpreted by the motor controller and may result in the vehicle lurching in the opposite direction of the range selected with the shifter.
What could happen
The unintended movement of the vehicle may cause a collision with a person or object, leading to property damage, personal injury or death.
What gets fixed
CRANE CARRIER NOTIFIED THE OWNER OF THE THREE UNITS ON JANUARY 26, 2012. CRANE CARRIER WILL CONDUCT THE REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN, FREE OF CHARGE.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 2 February 2012.
