What the defect is
PACCAR Inc. (PACCAR) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Kenworth K300 and Peterbilt 210, 220, and 320 chassis manufactured March 14, 2012 to July 14, 2014. The affected vehicles may have loose fitting electrical connectors on the power distribution module which may cause the engine to shut off.
What could happen
An unexpected engine shut down increases the risk of a crash.
What gets fixed
PACCAR will notify owners, and dealers will install nylon tie straps to hold the connectors in place until the permanent remedy, a connection position device, becomes available. Both remedies will be provided free of charge. The recall began January 29, 2015.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 21 July 2014.
