What the defect is
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016 Surveyor travel trailers and fifth wheels, models SVT321BHTS, SVT33RETS, SVT32RLTS, SVT33RLTS and SVT32RETS, manufactured April 13, 2015, to October 6, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the power supply wire for the room slide mechanism may have been incorrectly installed such that it doesn't pass through a circuit breaker.
What could happen
Without the power supply wire being properly connected to a circuit breaker, an excessive power draw or electrical short may result in melted wires and an increased risk of a fire.
What gets fixed
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and correct the power supply wire installation if needed. Damaged power supply wires will be replaced as necessary. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on November 3, 2015.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 15 October 2015.
