What the defect is
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain Mopar High Pressure Fuel Pumps with part number 68501449AA and certain 3.0L Diesel Engines with part numbers 05162119BB, 05162111CB, 05158048AH, and 05158052AG. The high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) may fail.
What could happen
Fuel pump failure can result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
What gets fixed
Dealers will repurchase the high pressure fuel pumps and uninstalled engines. For installed engines, FCA US, LLC will replace the HPFP and additional fuel system components, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning November 9, 2023.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 13 April 2023.
