What the defect is
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain MOPAR right and left side curtain air bags, with part numbers 68222742AF, 68222743AF, 05108050AF, and 05108049AF, sold as replacement parts for certain 2011-2019 Dodge Charger and 2011-2020 Chrysler 300 vehicles. The replacement right and left side curtain air bag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect.
What could happen
An inflator rupture may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in injury or death. In addition, an inflator rupture when not installed in a vehicle can result in injury or death of people nearby.
What gets fixed
Dealers will replace or repurchase the side curtain air bags, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 30, 2025.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 14 March 2024.
