What the defect is
Nova Bus (US) Inc. (Nova) is recalling certain 2023 LFS Artic and 2023-2024 LFS vehicles. The instrument panel may fail to display the speedometer or incorrectly display warning lights, due to defective firmware. In addition, the firmware may result in a loss of drive power. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, "Control and Displays."
What could happen
An instrument panel that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, can increase the risk of a crash. A loss of drive power also increases the risk of a crash.
What gets fixed
Novas Bus will update the instrument panel firmware, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 18, 2024.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 3 September 2024.
