What the defect is
Harley-Davidson Motor Company (Harley-Davidson) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Softail FXBB Street Bob and 2018-2019 Softail FXLR Low Rider motorcycles. The front tire inflation pressure on the VIN label may be less than the stated front gross axle weight rating (GAWRs). As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 120, "Wheels and Rims - Other than Passenger Cars."
What could happen
Incorrect tire pressure information may result in overloading the front tire, increasing the risk of a crash.
What gets fixed
Harley-Davidson will mail labels with installation instructions and owner's manual inserts to owners, free of charge. Letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed November 13, 2024. Owner notification letters were mailed December 30, 2024.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 26 September 2024.
