What the defect is
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2023 EQB 250, 2022-2023 EQB 300 4MATIC, and EQB 350 4MATIC vehicles. The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.
What could happen
A vehicle fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
What gets fixed
Owners are advised to only charge their vehicles to a maximum of 80% battery capacity until the repair has been completed. Vehicles previously repaired under Recall 25V050 will need to be repaired again. Dealers will update the battery management system software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 6, 2026.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 19 December 2025.
