What the defect is
Triumph Motorcycles America, Ltd. is recalling certain 2026 Trident 800 motorcycles. During pre-delivery inspection (PDI), the diagnostic tool may have loaded an incorrect headlight low beam configuration, causing the low beams to illuminate improperly. As such, these motorcycles do not comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
What could happen
Insufficient illumination from the headlight low beam can reduce rider visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
What gets fixed
Dealers will update the diagnostic software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 20, 2026.

Your rights
A safety recall repair is free. Under US federal law the manufacturer must fix a safety defect at no cost to you — no charge for parts, labor or diagnosis — whether or not you are the original owner. A dealer cannot charge you for recall work, and cannot require you to have bought the vehicle from them.
That entitlement is not unlimited. It applies where the vehicle was first sold less than 15 years before the recall was announced — 5 years for tires. Past that a manufacturer may still do the repair free of charge, and many do, but they are no longer obliged to. This recall was reported on 27 March 2026.
