Defect Description For Recall
Certain Dana Drive Axle Housings Manufactured Between November 2006 And February 6, 2007, Model Numbers Listed Above, Installed As Original Equipment On Certain Heavy Duty Trucks. Mis-Marked Steel Was Used During ProduCTIon. The Steel Coil Was Marked As 7/16″ (11 Mm), When It Was In Fact 3/8″ (9Mm). Over Time, The Out Of Specification Steel Could Result In A Fatigue Failure Of The Axle Housing, Most Likely At The Brake Flange. If Unattended, The Axle May Lock Up Or The End Of The Axle Could Come Off.

Effect Of Defect
If This Occurred, The Vehicle Could Have A Partial Failure Of The Brake System, An Inoperable Axle With Possible Locking Of The Wheel, Or The Wheel Off Condition. These Axles Failures Could Result In A Decrease In Vehicle Control Or Braking And A Vehicle Crash.
Fix Defect
The Vehicle Manufacturers Will Notify Owners And Will Replace Any Housings Which, Upon InspeCTIon, Are Determined To Be Under Specification Free Of Charge. Owners Should Contact Their Vehicle Manufacturer For Further Information Or Owners Can Contact Dana At 419-535-4500.
