Defect Description For Recall

On Certain Trucks Equipped With Bando Belt Tensioner, Corrosion Or Rust May Develop On The Tensioner Spindle Or Bushing Causing The Auto Tensioner To Become Stiff Or Bind. This Can Cause The Drive Belt To Suddenly Come Off Or The Auto Tensioner Mounting Bolts Could Suddenly Break.

Effect Of Defect

If The Drive Belt Comes Off, The Alternator Warning Lamp Will Illuminate. If The Warning Is Ignored, This Condition Could Ultimately Result In A Loss Of Vehicle Power (Engine Stall) Increasing The Risk Of A Crash.

Fix Defect

Dealers Will Replace The Auto Tensioner, Install Upgraded Mounting Bolts, And Replace The Accessory Drive Belt Free Of Charge. The Recall Began On May 2, 2006. Owners May Contact Hino Motors At 248-648-6430. This Campaign Has Been Superseded – Please See 07V208.
