“Vehicles affected” is the manufacturer’s own estimate of the production population that could carry the defect. It is not a count of vehicles that failed, and not a count of confirmed faults.

The largest campaigns are dominated by tires and equipment because a single part is fitted across many manufacturers’ vehicles, so one filing covers far more units than a vehicle-specific recall ever could.
